Starting the New Year

When it comes time to start pondering New Year’s resolution many people do not often take into account their current marital status. Perhaps an individual is in the process of a divorce with lawyers involved and wants to try to save the marriage or perhaps the converse. Additionally, it is possibly the perfect time to pop the question, in which case a divorce is likely and happily the last item on the couple’s minds. Yet another spouse might decide now is the time to start focusing reviewing divorce attorney profiles.

Now, I am in no way promoting the dissolution of a marriage, but rather encouraging a happy and longstanding relationship. This time of the year often creates many stresses amongst married and unmarried couples, which is common, but if the season is exacerbating existing problems it is perhaps to examine the union in more detail. Everyone should enjoy their lives and sometimes people find themselves staying in a marriage because it is “safe” or familiar rather than because they are still truly happy. There is nothing inherently wrong with this. However, it is worth considering if it is the best way to spend your life.

Hopefully, the New Year’s time period results in decisions that create the largest amount of happiness. Perhaps reflection will cause one to make changes that are beneficial to a slowing dying relationship and thus reigniting the flame that resulted in the marriage. It is my since hope that this is the case. No matter the outcome of any decisions, it is worth a little time to make certain you are happy with your life and each year together is another well spent.
